Malta – May 12, 2009 – Ricston, a European based provider of training and professional services for the open-source industry, launched a new transport for the Mule ESB transport for FIX which is available on the MuleForge, the industry’s most comprehensive hub for integration transports and adapters.

FIX is a public domain protocol aimed at real-time electronic exchange of securities transactions in the Financial Services industry, and is considered to be a standard protocol for pre-trade communications and trade execution. The Mule FIX transport is based on QuickFIX/J – a full featured messaging engine for the FIX protocol that is a 100% Java open source implementation of the popular C++ QuickFIX engine. This transport allows users to read and write messages over FIX endpoints and have Mule ESB route, transform and filter messages accordingly.

The MuleForge is the platform for hosting extensions to Mule. It provides a place for the Mule community to develop and share reusable Mule extensions such as transports, modules, tools and examples. Installing the Mule FIX transport entails simply extracting a set of archived files over an existing Mule 2.2 installation. The package comes with two pre-configured examples to help developers get up and running quickly.
