Mule 4 Upgrade Service

Embrace innovation and benefit from advanced capabilities

WIth MuleSoft’s announcement of the Mule 4 runtime, those developing and operating an existing Mule 3.x platform may be wondering how to upgrade and take advantage of latest productivity features, and product fixes.

mule 4 upgrade serviceAt Ricston, our background helping customers adopt MuleSoft’s API led connectivity platform means we are uniquely placed to help you understand how Mule 4’s capabilities will enable you to meet your business outcomes.

Mule 4 introduces a number of significant development and operational improvements to simplify and increase your ability to meet the evolving demand for greater connectivity between mobile, cloud, and SaaS applications via APIs, and promote creation and reuse of digital capabilities (API’s and microservices) to accelerate development and production cycles. Such improvements include:

  • Frictionless upgrades through classloader isolation between application, runtime and connectors, so that any internal library changes will not affect your apps or APIs.
  • Transparent data access and streaming that enables larger than memory random access to data without side effects using the DataWeave expression language.
  • Non-blocking, self-tuning runtime that removes complex tuning requirements to achieve optimum performance.
  • Simplified error handling that makes it easy for you to discover possible errors at design time and catch them.
  • Revamp of core connectors such as FTP, File, Email and JMS to increase flexibility and make them simpler to use.
  • A web-based flow designer for building no-code graphical integration flows.

A Mule 4 upgrade must be approached as a migration project, since Mule 4 received an unprecedented amount of innovative updates and technological changes. For example, the testing framework has been updated to MUnit 2. Therefore, the application and test packages need to be updated or refactored to meet the latest specifications and standards.

Migrating to Mule 4 from a Mule version older than 3.8.x extends the challenge further. Applications which have runtimes older than Mule 3.8.x need to be upgraded to the latest 3.8.x or 3.9.x versions before implementing a Mule 4 upgrade.

We are offering this Mule 4 upgrade service – as a packaged solution that includes a range of services from assessing an existing technology landscape and alignment to organisational goals, to conceiving a comprehensive migration plan and platform roadmap, to actually performing the migration and validation of services and applications.
